Get a new motor if it going to cost that much. 1ggte less everything not needed ie bare motor could be had for well less then $1,000.
    If in doubt power out

    1g's dont have lifters?

the cam lobe pushes directly on the end of the valve stem, with a shim and bucket inbetween

They do run lifters, but they are not hydralic lifters, they are shims.

Little things that look like a 10c piece.

They are about $10 each new

    why is it 2500?
    they are 15 each...15 x 24 = <2500
mayhaps tell us what has happened, and we may be able to help.

mate its$125x12 for exhaust and inlet is $85x12 valve lifters thats form toyota.

On sat night I was driving and stopped on a red light and there was a funny noise it sounded like a chunk of metal in my motor. I got home we removed the rocket cover to check if it was my lifters as my lifters where ticking, and we found a shim sitting in there and my cam lobe is damaged now so I am looking to fix it now

-get new mechanic (or learn to do it yourself)
    -buy 2nd-hand head
-buy head gasket and associated manifold gaskets
    -replace head
    -???
    -profit

you could buy an entire engine+gearbox+ECU package for $2.5k
