The UZ is tough as nails and no common problems i'm aware of. They handle gas no probs at all
Hi all,
I'm new to this forum and engines in general so please be nice. I am looking at buying a ute which has had a 1uz installed in it.
It has a blower on it running 7 psi with a air to water intercooler and also has injected lpg.
Now the LPG and blower has only been on it for around 1000km's so I'm told and the engine has roughly 12x xxx km's on it. He says it's being sold for the normal reason expanding family needs something bigger. The guy seems to be pretty decent so he's easy to get answers out of. He is a mechanic and did the conversion himself. From the looks of the engine bay it looks pretty clean and tidy not a birds nest looks as stock as a blown v8 can look.
My mechanic basicly said before you even go and look at it get as many detailed photos of the engine bay, driveline etc.
My question is, other than the usual problems every engine and gearbox has; are there any special nick nacks or problems that the 1uz has that I should look out for?
And also, does the 1uz like LPG? I've heard a blunt NO but if there is anyone with experience of this please explain.
Sorry for the novel but before I spend I want to find out as much as possible.
Thanks in advance.
Marcus

When you get it, can you send me some Pics?
I want to run the same setup on my hilux.
Thanks,

Just don't kid yourself into thinking that you are buying a car without problems.
Most conversions have corners cut, and they will become more obvious as time goes on.
The more you look, the more you'll find.

thanks guys. I'll be weary and I'm going to get a mechanic to look at it where ever I meet him.
Any other insight would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
