engine light will flash the code...
Hi,
I've been searching but can't seem to find it - can someone direct me to a guide showing how to pull 1j codes from the ECU? I'm guessing it's bridging a couple of ports in that plug in the engine bay, and hooking an LED up to it and counting the number and duration of flashes, something like that?
Cheers, Dan.

Hmm i'm getting code 31, three bleeps, pause, bleep.
Open or short circuit in Air flow meter signal, according to 7MGTE, which should indicate the MAP sensor for the 1J? Either the MAP sensor (although i've tried unplugging it to check if it's different, and it's not), or the MAP sensor wiring, or the ECU. I have a power fc waiting to go in, hope it's the ECU, that'll be convenient.
Any thoughts?
Edit - How do you identify leaky capacitors?
Just FYI - it did turn out to be the MAP sensor. I did unplug it to see if it changed the characteristics of the problem as soon as I pulled the code, but it didn't seem to change. However, i musn't have kept it unplugged for long enough, coz today as soon as I unplugged it the idle became smooth, plug it back in and it's running rough again. So if anyone has a similar problem in the future, make sure you thoroughly test the map sensor, leave it off the car for a while and rev the motor to test it, or hook up another one ideally.
Cheers for the code pulling guide.

I assume you mean in neutral only as you will be getting some serious lean issues if you were to do this while driving.
sounds like your ECU might have leaky caps, ive never heard of a map sensor shitting itself.
Tested the map sensor in neutral...
All i know is as soon as I plugged in another map sensor, it's running fine, but with the other map sensor on there, it was missing really badly and pouring fuel out the exhaust, guessing the other map sensor was faulty and was reading high pressure when there was none?
Had the car on the dyno the weekend after i changed it, did numerous runs, and it's safe, so it can stay there for a little while until the apexi map sensor goes on with the powerfc.
