turn one axle and watch the direction the other turns. if they turn the same way, then LSD. if turns opposite then non-LSD.
you can also get some one to hold one axle, if you cant turn the other, thats LSD. if you can then non LSD
Just picked up a g-series lsd diff. Wandering if there is a way of knowing if it's an lsd with it out of the car.

Yup. If the diff is out of the car it's easy to take the rear cover off, then you can tell for sure what's inside.
