    Default TA22 Advice

Hi, I'm a member of the old boards and from Caboolture Queensland
I've been working on restoring a 72' TA22 for a few years now and its getting close to finished but i need a bit of advice on a few things.

Anything special about rear and front glass as i need new ones?
Vinyl dashboard is basically destroyed, any places that can make one to fit?
Where to get carpet to suit the floor a TA22?
I have some concerns about stock Diff and Suspension and advice on that would be great.

Also the Car has a stock 2T , but i do have a 18R-G in the shed thats in very good nick (minus dizzy and sidedraft carbies) i know a new crossmember is required to fit it, but i do have the 18R to T50 bell housing that will let it fit onto my current gearbox. is it worth it?

    1. glass rubbers: many aftermarket can give troubles when fitting the chrome strips around the screen. If your rear screen came with a demister it must have one for roadworthy.
    2. Dashboardrestorations.com.au aprox $330 for a reskin
    3. knox carpet or truefit but they both suck i have not used knox however some heating and shaping is required for truefit to actually fit. Take it to a trimmer and make them do it. trust me its worthwhile.
    4. search.
    5. 18r to t50 bellhouseing? is that from dellows the garbage producing factory? just use a w50 and co for an rg conversion.

    hope this helps

    Daniel.

nothing special about the glass, being a 72 it probly didnt have a rear demister.
Dash can be retimmed by a you local auto trimmers
A local auto carpets place will do a moulded carpet, there are about 4 places down here in melb that do them,
Stock diff will be strong enough aslong as its in half decent condition,
Replace the suspention with aftermarket springs/shockers(lots of people make them)
as for 18RG, yeh its probly worth it, the early toyota twincams are great donks

Munki you are a grumpy person arent you,

I have all the rubbers, we tried fitting the rear windscreen back into it with the new rubbers and it seemed exceptionally tight to the point it felt like the windscreen would break.

Dash is currently in 3 pieces it shattered upon removal.

The bellhousing i dont know who made it, cant remember since its all packed away, but i know it looks more like a standard bellhousing then a custom, and fits perfectly to my alloy T50 and to the 18R
