Firstly, the hotel owner "asked us to consider" we may like to hire security after last years antics(not that I'm going to go on about it) Unfortunately those people have not owned up to it and so will probably be there again this year: mad: , I agree with you Kirsty, uninviting them would be a good idea.
Security will be there to also act as a deterrant to anyone who thinks that our cars are easy pickings, it will be school holidays so a lot more wayward kids/adults will be cruising around, anyone who might be considering ANY sort of malicious damage to hotel property, or anyones personal property might rethink their actions. Also you have to consider that up until now we have enjoyed relatively drama free events, so why push it, prevention is always much better than a cure.
Security will not be there to act as fun police, we've always partied til the wee hours, hung around in the hotel carpark talking, checking out each others cars etc etc so that is not going to change, after all thats what Dubbo is about, the people you meet and the socializing.
Looking forward to seeing you all again, and reading Rivers account of the weekend afterwards. In the meantime drive safe. Cheers Danae
    Danae,
Great to see you back on here
Security to protect everything is really a good idea
I've only been out there 2 years ( with this one being my 3rd ) and I have to say the best part is seeing everyone so proud of their beasts, It would be shocking to see anything happen to them
I won't have the kids this year so There will be more socialising for me instead of trying to chase around 2 energetic kids and keeping them entertained and out of trouble

It probably won't be in the events Calender as it is not a Toymods run event.
We are a club that is lucky enough to be invited but the organisers.

Pete ... to save having to search for the URL:
    http://www.toyota-nationals.org.au/

If you are thinking of driving down, Wilbo's got a nationals 'convoy' thread here in the Qld events section:

Any Chance of some style of Motakana taking place out on the air stip for those from states with corners? (namely SA and Tasmania.)

Drags are cool but a test of agility, and car handeling would be great. It's easy to organise insurance through CAMS for Motakana's as they are clasified as a non speed event. and if the owners of the air strip are allowing drag racing then they may be inclined to open up the other end for such an event.

    Cheers

    A few more details:

In our meeting last Sunday we agreed to have a security guard for Saturday and Sunday night. Saturday night is to quell any crackerheads or those wanting to play Mission Impossible by turning off the power/ surveillance systems. Sunday night is mainly to baby sit the cars while everyone’s at the dinner.

We have confirmed from Dubbo City Car Club that the cost for drags is $80 but this includes the ANDRA licence ($12). That’s cheaper than last year and makes it a neat round number. As I said before, the format will be like a street meet so there will be no dial-ins but will have a Top 8 at the end of the day. Both DCCC and ourselves believe this will run much smoother and represent much better value for money.

I have heard rumours that the Matilda is booked out. This is not true as there are still a few rooms still out the back and lots out the front. If you booked a room last year it would pay to confirm your booking now.

Motorkhana: Unfortunately the Toyota Nationals Inc is not in a position to offer motorkhana. If however there is a CAMS affiliated car club who would like to organise and run a motorkhana we will make every attempt to find a suitable ground. Please contact me by email if anyone would like to discuss this option. .

I have just finished the itinerary and costs so Nathan will put this up as soon as he is able. Entry forms are nearly complete to expect these very soon. Other things we are looking at are trade stands at the SnS plus a few fun events. This year is shaping up to be a really good weekend!

Sounding good. I can't wait to get there and enjoy the company and relaxed nature of being able to go to an event that is well organised and run by someone else. For the guys on the Toymods board it is bliss

Just rang and Comfirmed that our room is still there since we booked it when we left last year

I think the misleading advice might be that there is no more FAMILY rooms out the back but there is still some rooms available

ah.. when i spoke to them last week, out the back there were no small rooms left(e.g. standard or economy) but larger rooms were still available.. that would suggest that Spa Unit, Apartment and Executive rooms are still available.

And then there's heaps of rooms out the front (all kinds).

Spa unit is NOT available. Rod and I booked that last year.
Then Jason ( yellorolla) booked the other day he was told there were no family rooms left out the back, but there were other rooms left.

Who knows everyone seems to be getting told different things

yeah, i'm in a similar boat - was offered one thing when i rang them on saturday and then someone else called back the following morning to tell me there was nothing. Qiute annoying to hear otherwise again now that we've had to make other arrangements to book somewhere else.

I'd keep calling back trying to see what different responses I could get but the STD calls would kill me!
    Cheers,
    Paul.
