Rumour has it that it shares the same piston as the 5M-E
the old toyota 4v 'hemi' v8...
anyone know if stuff off the 2tc or 3tc 'hemi' engines is interchangable? or any other kooky x-breeding going on that might be useful in a 4v build up (not mine!). sources for aftermarket bits?
cheers

I was under the impression that if bored over 2mm, 5M pistons fitted.
I am going off memory from an old magazine artical I read ages ago. It was a TA22 with a turboed 4V a few years back. Surely someone can confirm??
Overboring an alloy block 2mm? Sounds dangerous.

Pffft, if hotrod guys want to be nostalgic they should be using a flathead V8.

what kinda rpm can you get outta one of them?![]()
beer me!
Well the 5V-EU in my friend's Century does NOT like to rev - anything above 4000 and it sounds a bit thrashy. Don't know if the 4V is better in that regard though.

There is no chance in hell its as good as the 1uz! You try reving them to 10 grand on a regular basis and see what happens!
They like it because its a Hemi copy and makes them feel better saying its a toyota hemi.
Anyone that would put a hemi copy in, instead of a 1uz needs a hard turkey slapping by john holmes, rest his soul!
