    Default r154 shifting probs

hey guys im havin some issues with changing gears ,motor n box are in a 180sx so ive resized the tailshaft, problem is trying to down shift thru the gears (5-4-3-2-1)i cant find any gates.gears have to realy be forced thru but up shifting(1-2-3-4-5) is fine.
ive allowed 1 inch of freeplay between box and input shaft and ive checked the oil level.
    any ideas?

sounds like your syncros might be glazed or are bottomed out ,from what you are saying forcing them in to gear sounds like syncros

Ahhh fark. Mine does this shifting into 1st. I was hoping it just needed an oil change
I used to eat alot of natural foods. That was until I learned that most people died of natural causes.

sounds like the gearbox fluid you've used has assed all the synchros to me.

just a nother idea you have put the motor in the nissan 180sx.
1 are you using the original slave cylinder for clutch and also what about the master cyl is it the original size ,
and another thing is it the right pedal ratio same as original car that the motor came out of this will effect all of these things as well .
and last are you over clutching as well which will make it hard as well to get gears

cylinder and master are 180sx and working in good order.
i read in another thread that these boxes can be painful but they have to be better than this from factory.
people reckon using redline shockproof oil is the answer, but can oil really make that much diffrence?
hear its pretty exi too, anyone using it ?
