Either way though, just a thought
you could turn the room light on perhaps?
i find it hard on the eyes with any colour scheme when you are sitting in the dark, reading a screen..... so i don't

It is very much a club "branding" situation.

The forum layout is designed to be easy to read clean and professional in appearance, while still presenting in the Toymods colour scheme. I think it does a really good job personally.

I understand that people may think that this is a dead issue, but I'm another one who is after a less stark background colour. There are a lot of people on Toymods posting a lot of information every day of the week, and trying to read all that info while staring at a predominantly white screen gives me sore eyes and a headache.

I understand entirely that the colours chosen are in fact the Toymods colours, and agree that the default should be that colour scheme. However, for people who are already Toymods forum members, surely it couldn't hurt to have an option that isn't quite so harsh on the eyes? If you could allow members the ability to choose their own background colour from a variety of shades from white through to black, and a text colour on the same scale?

is your screen brightness set too high?
the background is definitely not white.

do all your other programs (word, excel etc) have black/dark backgrounds?

fwiw, the major colors is R:G:B=247 and the darker parts are R:G:B=240
which is about the same as the colours used for the toolbars of IE7

the dark grey background is R:G:B=153...

as someone who uses word and excel and other programs all day, i find toymods easier on the eye to read.. a relief if you will.. which is my... um... excuse for coming back here

read this page for about half an hour.. then go for a quick walk around the office

Damn you OC, now I want a Honda!

I've had a fiddle around with my monitor setting, and the background on this site still looks stark white to me. Can someone who isn't seeing stark white please have a look at their monitor setting and tell me what their RGB values for their screen are? Also, can they tell me their brightness, contrast and gamma values?

    Thanks
(And if I buy a blown Honda now, I'm coming after you OC!!)

Thanks for that. Now the far left hand parts where the user handle and avatar are in grey, though the body of the typed text is on a white background. Still, it is a bit better.

black background is teh suck. i used to use a black background on IRC years ago and that was a pain in the rectum to read for long periods of time.. it would be just as painful on forums.
