    Default 1jz into 1984 corona

Hey guys, just been offered a 1984 corona real cheap. Its super clean but has a fucked engine( heads cracked or something) Anyway me and my old man were talking and he suggested doing a 1jz conversion on it. I didnt think much of this at first but the more i think about it, the more fun i think i could have.

Now my question is, do you guys know of anyone who has done this and if so im just looking for a ball park figure of what the conversion cost them as i really dont know. How did they go fitting it all/mounting it all.

    Thanks for your help

Suggest you try a simple search with the words 1JZ and Corona

This link should help if you can't manage that.

There are so many variables it's impossible to give a meaningful answer, but don't expect any change from $10k once the job is done properly.

Are you sure you want to invest that sort of money in a "real cheap" 84 Corona?

84 is an ST141 so it is different to mine.

More 1g conversion in them than 1j's that I have heard of.

Mine uses a jzx81 chaser crossmember that has been modified to fit to the corona suspension. Uses stock chaser mounts also. Steering is all stock. There is just enough room to fit a 4" dump pipe or twin pipes with the steering box.

I would be installing a hilux diff in the rear if it is solid rear. Don't know about IRS?

I have HQ holden brakes but probably easier to go the pug/hilux 4 pots.

I would tend to agree with Norbie's estimate.

With the usual mods being twin dumps, 3" exhaust, FMIC and 15psi it should make about 210rwkw or so and with a decent launch run around a 12.8@110mph.

I would have left it at those mods except the turbos blew and I decided to upgrade. Since then it has been a big struggle to make any decent times. Still slower in ET than what I would have done with stock turbos.

P.S I would buy an aristo
