    You want the SC14.
The SC12 is the smaller of the two.

Youll have to work out how to mount the SC14 yourselves.
A lot of poeple use aircon compressor mounts, but you may find other existing engine components may get in the way.

looks like sc14 is the way to go.

would it be easiest to just cut off the old brackets and just weld on new ones where its out of the way of everything?

chris: mounting a SC is just the start of long journey - you'd have intercooling, ECU & related hardware, clutch, etc to deal with. I don't think your $1k budget is gong to cover all the bits that go with forced induction.

This would be a good starting point for reading - ignore the fact that it's an 18RG, the principles are the same.

wouldn't HAVE to worry about any of that stuff... 22R = carby, intercooling not totally essential (though a good idea), ditch S/C clutch, use constant trive, related hardware... few pipes, belts, etc etc...

my biggest concern is the fact the SC14 was designed for a 2L, strapping it to a 2.4L won't yield nearly the same results as a 2L. and that with a carby you'll need to go through the pain of re-jetting and adjusting timing...

IMO for $1000 you'd be better off changing diff ratios until you can afford something special, spend a few hundred, and keep the rest till you can afford a decent set up.

for the money id consider just a set of extractors and a cam upgrade. Supercharging just a pita and i believe you would blow your budget. The sc14 would be fine on the motor, just depends on how high you expect to rev.

wouldnt be revvin it very hard max it would get to is like 5500-6000rpm.
are cams and extractors hard to find for 22R tho?

not hard at all, most of the local cam places stock em. Crow/Wade/etc. Most exhaust shops should be able to find you extractors.
