Modifying Oil Pickup

I was curious which oil pickup i need to modify when putting a 7mge in my MA61 (going from a 5mge)? An what is needed in this modification?

What's your 7MGE out of? What sort of sump does it currently have (front, mid)? If it's from an N/A MA70 it'll be a mid sump. The 7MGTE oil pump setup should be the same and it's the one most people modify when going to front sump in an MA61 conversion. Alternatively, if cressidas were ever delivered to the states the oil pump out of one of those will go in pickup and all and be in the right place, as most of the 7MGEs fitted to them were infact front sumped

Ok, well look at the section on that site about modifying the pickup. Basically cut the one you have now in half, spin the pickup to the desired location and reweld

if youve already got the 5mge - just use that sump and pickup

Do they flow the same? I know that the 7MGE and GTE pumps are internally similar, but there must be a reason why modifying 7M pumps is the norm for this conversion?

theyre internally identical... have had 5m/7m/7mgte all disassembled on a bench in front of me and completely fail to see how its possible one outflows ar provides a higher head of pressure than another...
