Default Effect of 2" inlet to intercooler from SC12 (Restriction?)

    Hey guys,
I'm currently running a 4AGZE with the venerable SC12, and AFAIK - the piping on it is all 2.5". The new WAIC setup I'm meaning to run on it has a 2" inlet and 3" outlet. I'm just wondering if reducing the pipe from 2.5" to 2" for the inlet is going to be much of a restriction? Or is the Intercooler itself going to be more of a restriction than anything?

    Thanks in advance,
(finding a place that will re-weld a pipe on this thing is impossible!)

2 inch piping the whole way would make the system better. 2inch piping will flow a hell of alot.

Hmm In that case, I guess the small diameter pipe is not a problem then... thanks

SC12 is 2" outlet, stock cooler is 2" in and out, inlet to plenum is 2" , you wont have a drama at all.

I believe that the 2" piping was a limiting factor on my motor, but I was still getting 130kW. Unless you're aiming for more than that, 2" should be fine.

I assume that's FW/RW kw? I mean, making the pipes bigger than 2" when the plenum is 2", the charger itself is 2" blah blah isn't going to do much is it?

ATM the piping is all 2.5" to the FMIC i think mainly because they don't make FMIC's with 2" inlet and outlets lol!

I think It's time to run a massive reducer on the outlet side of the intercooler

Yeah, that was at the wheels. For an extreme example, grab a garden hose and blow through it, then cut 2" off the end and blow through that. A short length of tube is a lot less restrictive than a long one...

Yeah, I've got a really huge massive long inlet tract atm, and this little upgrade will reduce length by approx 75% - should be good!

For the sake of off-throttle lag, it sure is (even tho I'm used to it now lol)
