Bump. Anyone?
I have a P51 sitting here, Came with an 18RGEU I bought from a guy that had it sitting in his shed for 10 years. He had no idea what it was. I haven't cracked it open to see what synchro's it has but the ratio's match P51 not W50. It also has two extra sensors/switches then the single one found on a W50 for reverse lights.
I was just curious what it's worth, I'm not interested in keeping it but I figured it being a rare box has to be worth something...

Well the P-51 was the transmission with the better synco's and better gear ratios than the W-50 If the gears are not worn from speed shifting, that gear set would be a nice addition to your engines performance.
P-51 Ratios:
First Gear: 3.525:1
Second Gear: 2.054:1
Third Gear: 1.396:1
Fourth Gear: 1.00:1
Fifth Gear: 0.859:1
W-50 Ratios:
First Gear: 3.287:1
Second Gear: 2.043:1
Third Gear: 1.394:1
Fourth Gear: 1.00:1
Fifth Gear: 0.853:1

Thank youI actually have the ratios of the P51 in a book somewhere.
I'm curious how much it's worth as I'm looking to sell it, I don't have a use for it. I know it's quite a rare box only found in GT Celica's and Corona's.

Something is only worth what someone is willing to pay.
Since there aren't many sold it would be hard to gauge what it's worth.
If you wait 20 years you could get bulk dollars, or you could sell it for $50 tomorrow...
If you want to sell it, put it up in for sale for what you would be happy with and go from there.

So basically put it up for what I think it's worth in my head? I guess if I over priced it, it just wouldn't sell, No biggy.
Thanks heaps.

Great point, I could not give him a price because of my present location, when I was station in Japan, I would buy the engine and transmission from a scrap-yard for the weight of the item and the metal content since these parts were schedule to be melted down so the combine weight and Mixed metal content would cost me roughly about $40.00 in Yen, when back then the Yen exchange rate was 235 yen to 1 US Dollar. That is how I ended up with all of these, which I have sold over the years:
But that was back in the 1980's so that was thirty years ago or more. So it should sell for about $50.00 - $75.00 by that estimate. I have learned that you price an item and if the buyer believes it is a good deal, then that item will sell, Period. Good luck with your sale.

Well considering I sell W50's for $250 and they sell like hot cakes, I'd have though a rarer gearbox from a rare car would be worth much more.
Nice collection of carbies![]()

not much unfortunately
its not like they are any stronger than a w50 and the only people thjat would be really after it would be someone restoring one of those cars only to have a matching number build.
but i don't know anyone restoring one. the market for these cars seams to be in the performance. so you wouldn't get anymore than what a w55 is worth which you can get them from a wrecker for between 300-400
never know you might get lucky but if you want to move it i wouldn't ask big money. dave at sleeka spares has a few of them and when i was there he gave me a choice between the p51 or w50 when i was buying one off him both 300. i ended up going with the w55 for the same price from another wrecker.
So what I see between these last two post suggest that the price for the P-51 be...........: $275.00 which is between the suggested 250.00 - 300.00!
