G'Day mate,
MP is inadequate for wheel bearings.
You need some High Temperature Bearing (HTB) grease mate. Available in any automotive shop.

I'm putting new rotors onto some RA60 struts for the suspension change in my car and I was curious what grease I should use inside the hubs and for the bearings. Is MP grease gonna be fine for the job or should I get something rated for higher speeds ie track use and such? Any help would be appreciated, thanks![]()

Yeah you will have to get the right stuff for this one .Bearings will not last vry long at all with any other grease

I don't think that 'MP' is a spec. It seems to cover a lot of things, like whatever the company wants it to be.
Any of the MP labels that say wheel bearings, and especially those that
state 'disk brakes', unless you're getting you disks red hot, then go for something 'moly' based..
Yeah your right mate, MP just stands for multi-purpose, but generally it doesn't include wheel bearings, at the end of the day though as long as the container says its suitable for wheel bearings its all good

Further to this, there is a MolyBond Grease, which is all purpose grease.Originally Posted by allencr
And thus not suitable for wheel bearings.
So yes, stick with "wheel bearing grease" or "high temp grease"

Went down to super yesterday and grabbed a tub of some castrol htb, degreased the wheel bearings with petty then re-packed them and re-greased the hubs with the htb stuff. I was going to grab some apparently high performance grease but the first tub was open and the second was leaking...
Thanks for all your help guys![]()
For wheel bearings HTB grease - no worries. Just remember to make sure the bearing, hub and rotor are completly clean of old grease, as mixing greases causes them to turn to oil.
Well they were clean but I didn't use degreaser in the hubDid I make a booboo?
