I had a 164mm on my FWD GZE and it made a noticable difference. Much nicer to drive, and came on boost much earlier.
Hi guys,
I want to run more boost in my ze just want some opinions how the 164mm compare to the larger 175mm one. The car currently running .5bar ~7psi on stock pulley. I've read that by upgrading to 164mm it will give me ~3-4psi increase and ~5-6psi with the 170mm.
I'm considering getting the 164mm as the car is a daily driver and I want to keep it reliable. Question is will the 3-4psi increase be worth it, will it make noticable different? or should I just get the larger 170mm?
I'm really interested to hear from people that fitted one or both to their car.
Thanks you.

i'm a fan of the 175mm crank pulley that yeilds ~14psi. it brings the engine alive! and IMO is just as reliable as running stock boost.
only downfall is the factory a2a i/c's are not really up to the task of cooling the extra heated air, so along with the 175mm pulley i recomend a i/c upgrade.
as in come on boost earlier? I already have a front mount IC only problem is the air intake pipe need to be heat wrap or shield or something as the pipe can get quite hot as it run over the exhaust manifold. So you think reliability is not an issue over standard?Originally Posted by feral4mr2
you do get a certain amount of boost earlier as the s/c is spinning quicker than before at the same engine rpm's. i put a custom 175mm pulley on the lil feral a few weeks ago, basicaly as i tromp it i get 10-12psi and a solid 14psi from ~5000rpm on.
problem is after a good run the stock i/c is hot enough to cook breakfast on.
more gze's than you can count on your fingers and toes around the world have been running oversized crank pulleys for years. even with stock i/c's.
i'm sure plenty more gze owners will chime in, i've been away from the s/c for a while (been playing turbo) and not long got back into another one.
