Yep your on the money AFAIK, that is what it does.
Mine doesn't have one so the fan runs all the time.. quite annoying really.
hey i was just wondering if anyone new wat the rep sensor in the jza70 radiators actually does. i suspect it is a variable resistor as with my understanding is that it picks up a signal to tell teh hydor fan to sin faster the hotter it gets. if this is the case then i cant use it for a thrmo switch.
anyone know?
i have a thermo switch sensor that fits exactly in that spot also. i know its not the best place to put it but its the most pratical. just really wanna know what the jza70 switch does

yeah i have mine hooked up to constant 12v and kinda annoying turning the car on to ign and having a fan run. now will only do it when its hot with the thermo switch.
also have the sensor here if you need it hybrid
The sensor in the bottom of the radiator on a hydraulic fan setup is... well.. a sensor and not a switch.
You could use a jaycar voltage switch kit with a series resistor on the rad sensor to give you an adjustable thermostat.
As an aside, many factory water temp SWITCHES are fitted in the bottom tank of the radiator, so replacing the sensor with a switch should not be a problem as long as you pick a sensible temperature.
