V6... do you mean one of those dreadful Buick V6's? An MZ V6? Nissan VG? Helps to be specific...
well i havent really posted here i think lol, but i just got a question bout my hilux. A guy wanted to sell me a v6 engine with everything needed for $300. But would it be worth putting in my hilux and how much work would it take to get it in right? If it not worth puttin in what engine would be better?, dosnt have to be v6 just something with a bit of power.
Thanks

O sorry its from a commodore, not sure what model its fromOriginally Posted by mrshin
A few people on here have done them, try the search button to find out who, and then ask them.
many hiluxs with them out there
no matter what engine u fit price can be similar
any en gine that needs mounts etc will cost alot
unless you can do the work yrself
plan to spend 5g or more
if you cant afford to spend more than 3g and you cannot do some work then dont waste yr time
make sure u get everything with the enigne like electricals and sensors and ecu
and if its a vr vs v6 on newer then u need to pay to get security removed from ecu
i have done about 5 v6 hiluxs in past year
The engine i can get is $300 with all elctronics, ecu etc. Any modifications needed i can do myself, like i should be able make some mounts myself.
Make sure the lux is older than the motor. Probably better off getting a $300 Commodore then you can swap it over a la front cut conversion. What model lux?

Well i'm thinking of buying this engine. But a guy at work told me if its VN or up it's probably not worth getting. If its under VN would it even fit in my engine bay? and would i need to upgrade my diff?, if so what diff would be best for my hilux?
Thanks
Yo,
V6 did not come in commodore before VN. I think he's having a lend of you.
o really, well i havent seen this engine yet. Its probably from a VN lol.Originally Posted by SeptemberSquall

You won't need to upgrade the diff. A lux diff will handle anything a Commodore V6 will dish out.
Oh really cool . Even a diff for a 3Y engine?Originally Posted by allmtr
And also a guy at work told me i wouldn't be able to put a v6 in my lux cause i'm a P plater. That true?
Thanks
