Default Ticking on left hand transaxle hub side of engine

Driving around tonight, the VZV21r Camry suddenly started make a large ticking noise from the left hand side hub wheel. Could this be a wheel bearing? It only started happening at low speed, and then on from there it was all the time. I've checked everything surrounding the gearbox and wheel itself and cannot find anything so this leads me to wheel bearing. Anyone had them go like this before?

jack up said side of the car and spin the wheel and see what you hear.
what kinda of clicking? as in click click click
it could also be your cv's which means when turning right you'll hear it on the left and vice versa. (i think thats right ) just pop your head under and have a look at the boots. but i always do the jack and spin to see if i can replicate the noise.

oh and i once got a large rock stuck in my treads which caused me to hear a clicky noise each revolution too.

Thanks man yeah i was gunna jack it up but i ran out of time last night. And yes its a click click click sound, and gets faster as i speed up and is there all the time regardless of me turning. I was actually thinking it might be a rock or something in the tyre. So yeah just jack it up and try and replicate the noise

sounds like a rock in the tread of a tyre.. maybe a cv, cv wouldn't be overly loud though and would mostly only click when you're turning

if it was wheel bearing it would more likely be a squeaky type sound than a clicking sound, or you would have noticed a squeaking sound up until now

just for the record, i was told that if it makes the noise while you are turning, then it is the CV's, if it makes the noise while you're going in a straight line then it's most likely wheel bearings.

If you're checking the tyre treads for stones (has happened to me too), look closely as I had that noise from the rear passenger wheel on my commodore.

    Checked for stones....nothing.

A closer check a couple of days later revealed a 30mm tek screw jammed in the tread.
The screw was black so I missed it first time around.

Then, idiot here pulled the screw out.......I guess I should have left it there.
