OK, mine is making a little more power now than first dyno'd, have piggyback ECU goodness.
2JZ-GE
Xede Piggyback ECU
Stock internals
Custom intake piping to HKS Pod
HKS Kansai heat wrapped (6-2-1)extractors w/ heatshield
3" High flow cat
2.25" Cat back
Runs on 98 RON
Thought i should wack this up. The graph is for:
3/2TG hybrid
twin 40DCOEs jetted by mammi motors
with 36mm chokes
pacemaker extractors
2 - 1/4 straight through exhaust with a hotdog resonator and straight through rear muffler
larger cams, not sure but my guess is around the 280 to 300 duration
There may be a bit more in the current setup if i swapped to 45DCOEs but i'm happy with it as is (at the moment.)
Very nice numbers. Is the rev scale acurate?
As all us 2T/2T-G/3T users would love that power at those safe revs. My 2T got less power at more revs.
Is that starting to valve bounce at 6400 or did they stop as the power rolled off?
If valve bounce then you could add inner springs and get those revs easily to 7500.
40mm with 36mm choke should pull beyond that 6400.
But I bet it is very strong in the mid range and still drivable. Amazing what a bit more capacity and compression can do.

Valve bounce, nature's rev limiter

Rodger, the revs are pretty accurate. When i drive the car "spiritedly" i take it to 7000rpm no probs. I even held 3rd till 7500rpm at calder to get a better mph and i can't say i've ever experienced valve bounce. If the dyno guys had held the thottle a bit longer you would see that the power flattens above 6500 but doesn't drop off too much.Originally Posted by Rodger
The mid range certainly is very strong and the car is pretty drivable.
I'm interested that you think my power should keep going. There must be something else holding it back. Or maybe i'm over estimating my cams. My judgment is based on camparisons to shelldrakes engine/car.
I haven't had the head off to check but i don't believe its had and porting done. I have the last version of the 2TG head, with no numbers. Therefore double valve springs etc. The same extractors and a slightly free-er exhaust. His motor feels like the cams kick in around 3000 - 3500rpm whilst mine feel more like 4000 - 4500rpm. From a physical comparison i certainly have more lift. As the receipt i have from the previous owner is unintelligible.Originally Posted by shelldrake
The 2 things that jump to mind about my engine, which may be costing me power, are that i'm still running a points dissy (recurved) and that i have a fair amount of blowby. But shelldrakes fresh engine has a very similar amount of blow by so maybe thats not unusual for these engines?
Any suggestions as to whats holding it back would be appreciated. Because i had wondered about the "low" max power rpm before.
(sorry about the large post)
Ok Turdinator,
We may have reached the maximum flow of the 40mm DCOEs.
Still, that it is impressive to make for such a lazy 88.6kW without stressing the motor. Anyone near you with a set of 45mm Webers?

i hope to get a dyno run in somewhere cheap before i start some mods
can anyone recommend somewhere in brisbane that can do a power run with printout for cheap?![]()
