    Default A 22re/21rc crankshaft question

    Hi guys,

    finally my account has been activated

    So, to the question: Do the 21r-c and the 22r-e have the same crankshaft?

    Best regards

    Yes, I am pretty sure they are.
    I know that all the bearing positions and measurements are the same, can anyone confirm the seals and oil pump drive.

    Yes the 20R , 21R & 22r crank's are interchangable only the front timing cover is different on the '86 corona 22R motors .

    Also if you have the need to get more cube's from an old 18R . By machining the main centre journal of a 21R cranck shaft it will strock the motor out to 2.2 L

    There's more to the 18R hybrid than that.
    I'm doing that at the moment.
    centre journals require widening, yes. Rods need to be side ground and front of crank needs to be ground down to match 18R. Also the piston compression height needs to change.

    22 and 22R cranks are interchangeable, so there's your answer Fnurga

    Dammit

    Then my plans are pretty spoiled.
    The crankshaft in my celica (21r-c) is wasted, and i had a seller of a 22r-e crankshaft, but if it is as you say i don't know what to do.

    Thanks anyway.

    We did get a little off topic there, and I don't know if you got confused or not, but,

    22R crank => same as => 21R crank.
