    Default 4afc _ 4age

    Hello to all!
this is my first post and i can now say i am a proud owner of a corolla!!
my Ae92 Looks the part, sounds the part, but unfortunantly doesnt go as well as it looks or sounds!!

i was wondering is the 4a series engine basicaly the same in the bottom end and just have different heads strapped to it? or is it completely different rite through 4ac 4afc 4afe 4age 4agze etc
because i heard something strange the other day of a 7afge ie 7a head 4agze bottom.
so is it possible to buy a worked 4age head and strap it to my 4afc block? or is that just wishful stupid thinking.... be nice i am a noob at all this!
its not that i dont appreciate that my car goes and i mean its great with just me in the car but if you add a 2nd or third person you really really notice a lack of power!
it handles great lowered 3" in the front and 4" in the rear on 17" avantek *shrugs*
i payed $3500 coz the guy has a family now!
any help would be greatly appreciated
    thanks
    Terry

the blocks are pretty similar, but the rods pistons and crank? are different, while a 4age CAN be put onto a 4afc block it's a lot of work and just isn't worth it.

Best thing to do is get a complete 4age with box and driveshafts to go in, it's a bolt in job

You'll also need the efi fuel tank, fuel lines, etc etc to do the conversion.

also you would of heard of a 7age, 7afe block and rods, 20valve head is generally what's done, the 7a is 1.8L vs 1.6L

Depends which engine mate, 4ac you can't do anything with (8v, sohc) compared to the rest which are 16v dohc. The heads you can change around with the 4afe and 4age and also the 7afe, but not with the 4afc because that's a carby although im sure someone with alot of tech experience can pull a trick out In saying that, the 4age's are quite cheap these days so it's not too hard pulling out the 4afe and putting in the 4age.

Since you've got a carby, you'll need efi tank and lines that you can get off a twinky, plenty of them around There's heaps of info here and also at http://www.sydneyrollaclub.com

its not how u drive your car its how you stand by it

seriously, dont bother with the 4ac Poo.. its good for economical commuting,
if iwas in your position, it would be 20 valve conversion ( use search button )
( silvertop 20 valve 4age, with a c52 gearbox and driveshafts as stated.. then you will love your car alot more

    cheers mate

PS where in QLD is that ?

OMG yes the brakes are stupid poo
not only do they just suck i have relatively not much tread left which doesnt help and i think the stearing allignment mite be out a tad but im gonna get that touched up with the new rubber! had to many close calls in this car because of these brakes, ive come from driving a 86 hilux to my parents 93 falcon wagon to this and it still sinking in....

main difference that im aware of is with the driveshafts and a longer 3rd gear.

I've slotted DBA rotors with ebc greenstuff pads along with a rear disc brake conversion waiting to go in at the end of this month

Then comes my 20V Good decision mate

I had the stocko brakes on my seca then went to vented rotors and massive calipers from a ae92 trueno import and dam it nose dives and pulls up really good without a smigin of fade plus it all bolts up, just the 13" spare doesnt fit anymore.

haha yeah dont have to worry bout the pursuit rims it came with the original 15" alloys as well as the 17"s and i dont think this car will nose dive it takes 3 people sitting on the front to get the gaurds to sit down over the tyre wall. its lowered and stupid stiff ....
thank god im moving to sunshine coast next month if i got more power on the roads around home here i think id break something. . .

There is a gear ratio post around somewhere. The C56 on the later silvertops has a shorter 3rd and 4th gear. Very nice. On the earlier silvertops I think you get the Ol' C52.
