Quick question is the ke70 1.6 threes speed auto the same as a ae71 three speed auto

A 1.6 litre KE70 (4A engine) IS an AE71 - same car, different driveline. If it's got a 4A motor, it's the three speed auto you're after...

ive been told that the ae71 is a a40 and the ke 70 1.6 is some thing else just trying to find out for sure

Ke70's have a 4K which is a 1.3lt push rod engine and have a trimatic.

Ae71's have a 4A which is a 1.6lt SOHC engine and have a ?????

AE71 in Australia has a Traumatic. Yes, they can be fiddled with somewhat, however opinion on Traumatic's is highly variable depending on who you ask...
