Default how to remove power windows

    hi guys,
have done some tests on my gz20 driver side power window, it is defintaley getting power, so it must be the motor.

question is, how do you get the motor out? and can you remove the motor without taking the whole assemly out?

i have already took the trim off, any ideas??

    cheers

First, have you tired bridging the wires and seeing if the window moves down when you bridge the two wires for the window? Possibly might be the switch.
My mates AW11 power window switch did this. It wouldn't go down when you pressed the button down but when you bridged the wires it would go down. Just bought a new switch and it works perfectly now.

new switch? reconditioned or second hand sounds more like it..

erm.. yea test the switch first.. then test out the motor.. so u can rule out what's wrong with it..

as for dismantling the window i'd like to help but i have to see it to tell u wat to do.. not too familiar with soarers.. pics and some arrows as to your concerns would be a good start..

    thanks boys
my mate came round and we pulled out the whole mechanism, i think the motor is on its last legs, switch and wiring is fine, motor works but only on certain angles (thats just the motor, not driving anything) took the top off the motor thinks the contacts might be buggered, anyone know where to get a new motor or how much they are or part numbers

    cheers

Go to a Toyota wrecker, mix'n'match something to fit it.

You just need to pull ff the trim and see how its all bolted in place.

Everything will come out believe me, those Japs are pretty efficient.
Once you get the motor out try it on your battery and see if it runs either way.

Check for rust and corrosion and busted connectors especially where the wires go across the door jam into the body, most common breakage there.

To fix any of this you need time and patience and a nice lit work area.

Yesterday I did not know how to pull the glass from a RT104 CS now I have a full set of tinted glass windows including the rear.
As to how they all go back in I will let you know.

Better still get a manual it tells you how the stuff comes out and back in.
