i have a 4age starter from an AE82 twincam (4age), get a picture up of yours and i'll get a pic of mine to compare. They might be the same?
Go to this post which contains updated photo's and other information
My reduction starter has been playing up and I may need to source some bits from the auto elec. Got it years ago from EKW and am almost certain it wasn't 20 valve back then. Can anyone tell me which corolla's they came on? I am guessing a small port AE92? Although presumably it came off an import motor. And yes I searched both forums!

ae86 starters (audm and jdm) were not reduction type. they also have issues cranking hi-comp engines
the ae92 ge and gze were reduction type and fit the rwd 4age (i have the ae92 gze one on mine)
the ae101/111 reduction starters wont fit a rwd 4age afaik

Thanks c2888, part number is 28100-15190. There is another number under that - 128000-6340. Witzl, shall try and work out how to put a photo up tomorrow. This starter is a bit smaller and lighter than the one my mate has on his car, which i think is a small port AE92.
Yes, true. Smallport AE92 4AGE starters are reduction and fit T50s perfectly. GZEs however do not, nor do 20vs.
The best way to tell is that the reduction starter doesnt have a "snout" covering on it wheras the linear starter does.

Nope, because AE92 GZEs come with E58 or E51 (early) boxes, which have a massively offset starter motor. I remember because i had one, and went to change the starter when someone on the old forums assured me it was the same as the AE92 GE one i had.....
....
....
it wasnt.

28100-15190 STARTER ASSY 4AGE..AE92 12V 0.8KW
it seems most engines get both regular and reduction starters, probably for those countries that have colder climates.
dan

This is my reduction starter identified by c2888 as an AE92 item.
That wont work as it is hosted on localhost. Which is your machine. Best to put them up on imageshack or somewhere.
