AE95 Diff/Gearbox strength?
I'm about to purchase a cheap daily runabout, with a view to turn it into a project in a couple of yrs time. I'm specifically looking at an early 90's Corolla, but don't really want to spend up in the short term. (Ruling out any SXs or GTIs).
I've been offered an AE95R wagon with reasonable Kms for a reasonable price,
but am a little concerned with durability of components such as gearboxes and diffs. I'd be looking to transplant either a high hp (210+) 20V or a 4AGZE+turbo.
Anybody with experience have any thoughts or experiences they'd like to share?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought that the diff is a T series, so should be ok if you are reasonable with it.

I believe you are right with the rear diff.
What about the front Diff / Gearbox. How would they hold up delivering
between 200 and 300hp?

There is a guy that I was speaking to some time ago, he was running a 4agte in an AE95. He hadn't had any trouble at the time that I was speaking to him. I think that he somewhere around 130kw ATW going through it.
