Like somewhere in the region of 20k, if you want reliable big power.

Thanks for the help guys but 42s and 51s are just not in my ball park.
For this type of setup I advise that you speak to someone with experience, internet research is very limited for the more indepth topics.

As said, if you cant afford a $3,500(or so) turbo, you cant afford this kind of power.

Id also suggest a rebuild for anything over 500rwhp, 2JZs are getting old and you need to be a little more careful with them as people used to be. A few blokes have had problems with big power setups recently.

Remember US power figures are significantly higher than Aussie power figures. From memory its something stupid like 25% high!!!

Ie: 1250hp in US is 1000hp in AU.

all work will be done by myself. Im a qualuified mechanic and have been for several years. The reason to the question i asked is i do have knowledge with turbos and what not but to be as acurate as possible to the power i want i want to reserch as much as possible.
piping for cooler cut and designed by myself
exhaust will be made by me manifold also
box built possibly by mv autos
    hilux/hiace rear end
electricals done by a guy i know $500
    waste gate 500
    injectors $1000
    fuel set up $800
    ecu $1500
turbo is nearly sorted and a fresh one im looking at is $2200 and thats brand new
my predictions for the entire job is $20000 and thats with a paint job and interior done to.
Ive been to titan in the US and from what ive told them and what ive sorted out it is possible to do that. We had a guy at titans take us through and show us the shop and how they build their engines and really its a piece of piss but selecting the right bolt on poeces is where it is make or break time in the hp department.
This job im doing will show case my takents to build tuff cars. Im looking at the building of 2js and setting up tuff packages for people.
Im not saying this will work but its going to prove how easy it can be to build up 2js. From my knowledge im going to get into the 2jz hardware and parts for customers
I am taking all your answers and quieries on board.
t88s and t51s are just too big for a any real steetable everyday package.
im doing this as a big hp weekend weapon and a everyday road terror.
there has to be a balance of both so compromises are what im being ruled by here
the more replys i get the better i COULD set these up for the normal person wanting a package or either street or track.
    thanks guys

IMO the best site for comparing turbochargers on a 2JZ is by far www.to4r.com and www.moreboost.org/turbos.htm

There are many options to get 700rwhp from the 2j, even with a stock bottom end. With a very good tune you'll get there with nothing more than cams(272's) camgears and ARP head studs. Just remove one head bolt at a time and replace with teh studs, keep the stock gasket. You'll need race fuel for this power level, but should make high 500's on pump. Your choice of turbo could range from T51 garrett, GT42R garrett, Mr Turbo T76, Precision T76, Greddy T88, Turbonetics T76, these will get you in teh ball park. Full boost will be around 4900-5400rpm depending on turbo choice, which is pretty good for an engine that you'll rev to 8000rpm. I'd prob do the valve springs at the same time, you can do these in teh car /on the engine without pulling it apart also.

I dare say that at the power levels you are looking at the car would not be streetable well not in my intepretation anyway.

Watching Miss2j's Supra with 540rwkw real of consistent low 12's on street tyres made me cringe.

Sure you can make the power but in reality the power curve is vertical even with a GT42.

When Miss 2j's car had 375rwkw it gained 250rwkw in a 12-20kmph bracket, it'd be worse now, thats not what I call a streetable car.
    If in doubt power out
