Default 4agze savvy mechanics.... help in sydney?

    Hi All,

Recently acquired a ae93 gze, just wondering if anyone in sydney could help me with s/c knowledge mainly, need to know how to change the oil in it. I looked at what people wrote in my other thread, and that looked pretty complicated. If anyone knows of any 4agze savvy mechanics in Sydney around Hornsby area, your help would be much appreciated.

Car has a problem where if you hit too much high boost through the gears, then brake heavily-- the revs would drop drastically and sometimes even stall.

    Cheers

Not too sure about changing the oil in SC12s, but I know wiv is actually spelt "with". Get it right.

mate, get under your car and have a look up at the s/c. if you have any mech savvy at all you'll see a bolt that looks just like a drain plug on the bottom of the ass end of the s/c, well thats the drain plug.
have a good look from the top, you may have to move a couple things aside (on the aw11 i remove the brown fuel vsv out off the firewall), you'll see a yellow doobie like in my picture posted above, well thats the dipstick.
to fill the s/c (which only needs 130ml of oil) you'll need to remove the dipstick (make sure drain plug is back in if you removed it), get a syringe and small diameter clear tubing like mentioned already in one of the replies.....
put the clear tubing into the hole the dipstick came out of and squirt the syringe of oil into the tubing.

walla, after 130ml the s/c will be full of oil. put dipstick back in and check it anyways.

There are also several "how to" threads on changing the SC oil on the www.twincam.org/forums website - search there

I dont think changing the SC oil will resolve his fault.
She might be idling too low? Idle her up a couple o' hundred revs...

neither do i old, but he did ask how to do it.

i fixed said problem in the feral when it was s/c by opening the bypass on the AFM a little.

I don't think its an idling problem, if the car starts properly it would idle at 1,100RPM. I will test revving the car in neutral and seeing if the revs drop. My mate said its pretty weird if it only happens when braking. If I clean the AFM would that be a step in the right direction?

I asked about changing the S/C oil cause I wanted to see if I could get rid of that "eek eek eek" noise.

Sorry feral i didnt mean to diss your writeup.

If you are trying to get rid of a noise coming from the sc, then yes, changing the oil is a good step.

Your idle sounds a lil high.

Braking heavily in gear would cause the revs to drop quickly. Its hard to tell what you are experiencing through a forum though...

no, i wouldnt try to 'clean' it. as i mentioned above i adjusted the AFM bypass. it's a small adjusting screw like the idle up/down on the the TB. when looking at the AFM from the top you should see a little round blanking stopper off to one side. it stopped mine from stalling out when going from revs to brake. only adjust in small amounts (anticockwise) and remember how much you adjusted it by.

have you thought about trying a new belt?

sqeeks - get a new belt.

idle drop out - dont punch the clutch in at 5000rpm when heavily braking. Clean your ISCV. Avoid touching your AFM at all unless you know what the hell you are doing, otherwise you will WANG IT.
