    Default Starting rebuilt engine for the first time without a tune

    Finally nearly ready to start my rebuilt 4AGTE for the first time and wanted to some tips.

    The Adaptronic ECU will be loaded only with a base map until I get it towed to the tuners.

    I am concerned about how long to initially have it run for in order to set the timing and check for leaks etc without a proper tune and obviously without letting it idle too long.

    this what i did , with breaking oil we ran t for 10min diff RPM don't get it idle, actually thats what my engine builder did; it's more that enough to find out leaks , cause fuel leak will pop as soon as you crank it ;
    i had few leaks form oil pressure gauge hose and sandwich plate so keep eye on them; but this is for NA 4AG; but not sure abt something with Boost;

    if your Tuning shop does mechanical work asked them to do the break-in , but some shops don't do mechanical work worst thing is if any leaks u have to tow it back.

    Yea I'm worried about having to tow it back because the bugger leaks or even worse, blows sky high! I figure the base map is enough to run it over varying rpm while checking for leaks, then shut it down and let it get cold before starting a few more checks before it gets on the truck.
