I will look into it if your interested....

I know 6BOOST only used standard bolts so far. This would have changed now, but that goes with the custom rods

I see 4age rod bolts are 9mm as well
but are only 50mm long not 54mm like the 1g bolts

i just measured each gap and told them and they had the right ones on the shelf.
i just thought i'd add. sicne i am measuring them now...

    stock toyota pistoned 4K (asco piston) has 2mm, 2mm, 4mm 1st, 2nd, oil rings
the 1GGTE (strads old ones) have 1.2, 1.5 and 2.8mm

i believe there are 2 different depths of oil ring for 4K pistons, at least within the stock pistons. ACL might be different again.

compression ring groove depth of stock 4K piston is 3.8mm

Well, I have no idea what the widths were, but I purchased HAstings moly rings for my 1G, and they went straight in, and they were from a 4K. SO it works. And if its from different version engines that don't fit, simply give me a call or ask JAmie, as we prob both have a number of stock pistons sitting around for nothing.

If you want to know, you can download the ACL catalog online and search pistons rings based on bore size, or go to the toyota section and look up the widths, and cross reference to what you measure from your 1G piston. WHile I didn't search online, we DID use the printed ACL book to get the correct rings and found them in the 4K range.

ahh, i think i know what it is....

the flat top pistons for K thru to 4K are 2,2,4, and the 5K have thinner.
there is a not so common 4K which has dished pistons similar to the 5K, and being the last model, are quite likely to (and apparently do) have the thin rings also....

Sorry to dig up an old thread but i was wondering if any work has been done on this 1G build up guide/thread

I am going to be going though all the fun of building up my 1G in the near future, and any tips or tricks from someone who has done it before, would be real handy.
I have read the many tips in this thread and already have a better idea of things i need to do..

My tech article will happen in the next few months guys, still putting info together, adding all the info and pics from my new race engine as well, which has shimless buckets, 4mm oversize valves, stupid cams and valvetrain, custom CFD designed intake, 1JZ timing belt with factory oil pump removed, Moroso external oil pump, knife edged crank and 2.15L stroker.

Had it on the dyno already and its making the same power as my old engine on 4 psi less boost and without dry ice. HAd some issues with oil pressure and hurt a bearing so in the process of upgrading oil line sizing and drive %, and I know I'm going to run out of turbo so we are also in the process of making a new manifold, turbo and dump pipe setup to run a 70+mm turbo. Hope to make 600rwhp+(750 flywheel) in 3-5 weeks and hopefully run an 8 at Jamboree. Will keep you all posted!!

PS, car is making 550hp at the flywheel on 20psi at.........9600rpm

I'll be interested to hear how it goes, 'cos it'll be interesting if it hangs together, and also be interesting to know what happens if it doesn't!
