Toymods is your friend, as it's the next best thing to having someone knowledgable with you while you work on your car. Among the throng there are many technical/mechancial gurus who can offer advice and other useful information for just about every aspect of your vehicle.

Also, some of us are devishly handsome...... but alas, some aren't.

I wouldnt bother chaning your carbs back to EFI. The stuff that came with the 2TGE is pretty old fashioned and awful. If you really want EFI go aftermarket but it's a lot of expense for minimal gain.

Get a good dyno tune on your carbs and you should be quite happy with them.

    Jill,

The solex's on your 2T-G will be foreign to most mechanics. Like anything thats a bit left of field you need to find someone who actually knows about them rather than a your adverage mechainc who's ego won't let him admit he has no idea what he is doing And as with ANY tuning if its not done under load its not going to be as good as it could be so I strongly recommend a good dyno tune to get things sorted.

Rodger who posted above is a dead set gun on these carbies and can sort any parts or items you may need and trust me, Solex parts are not easy to get hold of.

I have had allot of Carby fed 2TG's and have never needed a choke. Its a very common problem tho as most carby tuners will run the internal chokes to big to maintain a good airspeed at low rpms and as such they are hard to start and lack bottom end power and mid range. My last 2TG on Carbies caused quite a few arguements in the historic rally seen as with 28mm chockes it was technically well undersize according to most "tuners" 2 new webbers, a Lynx racing manifold and a fdully imported webber racing cable set up (Almost $3000 worth of parts and labour later) and guess what, bottom end power suffered for a gain of 4hp ! And of course it was no longer so nice to start lol

A well set up pair of solexs will be allot nicer than the stock EFI. Even with big cams the right set up will Idle at 850rpm and start first hit every time. If you have no luck and decide to get it sorted once and for all River or I can put you onto a semi retired tuner who knows the solex carbies backwards. He is of course just out of Sydney. My carby rebuild and tune was just over $900 to give you an idea of possible costings.
