    Default SAFC queries

I've heard a lot of Supra's run a Super Air Flow Controller (SAFC) usually Apexi or whatever...

whats the deal with them.. ?
is the benefits worthy of the cost.. ?
or only if you are a hardcore tuner.. ?

I'm thinking of running a atmo BOV on my 7MGTE and hear that a SAFC might fix the problems usually associated with the sensitive AFM.. ?
    true or false?

    comments appreciated.

Theoretically, I can't see how a SAFC will fix an atmo BOV problem as you still tune based on the AFM.

May not be the case in the real world but I can't see how it could make a difference.

Not sure about 7m's but good gains to be had on 1j's. Another option if you are a DIY guy is the Jaycar DFA.

Aparently a DFA won't work with my application...

ok as ive done this before on my 7M let me pip up here..

dont run an atmo. it is teh ghey with aids (and will cause u problems...)

it doesn't do bugger all to affect the sensitive AFM problem on atmo BOV installed 7M's. Once again plumb it back in.. you will still get your chirp if the BOV is good enough and that will fix your problems..

the only cars it really fixes the sudden lag in AFM response (thus the huge drop in revs) is ones with Hotwire type AFMs.. i.e. Skylines!

It wont do bugger all in the poopra.. if youre venting to the atmo, no matter what you set the airflow correction to.

IMHO its not really a great mod. You spend 400 bucks or so on a new SAFC and make probably 10kw gain tops. You can practically buy eManage for a little bit more and do a lot more (make a lot more power) than just the SAFC.

ahh.. and funnily enough, my mate recommending the SAFC owns a skyline!!

whats the worst that can happen with a atmo BOV... ??
I already own one so I was gonna stick it on cos the factory BOV is crap..
the car is only a weekend driver / 1/4mile warrior so I can handle the car puffing smoke between gear changes..

anyway - i guess that solves my SAFC query... thanks Chris!... and Chris!..

If you can pick one up for $100-$150 then its probably worth doing, but unless you have access to a wideband o2 sensor you will need to pay a further $200+ for a bit of tuning on the dyno.

So if you are paying $400 for one, and $200 for tuning, thats a good $600.

A complete Adaptronic setup will set you back ~$1100 plus tuning.
    And beyond infinitely better.
