    The problems I mentioned MAY be amplified or set in motion by using the drill method. If doing this make sure the drill direction is tightening the twist in the cable or it will be very messy.

    G'day,
    Good write-up. The speedo on my AE82 rattles, but only occasionally fluctuates. Where the cable joins in the back of the instrument cluster is worn, so that causes the little rattle. If anyone else has this problem you could try a bit of blue-tac or maybe even silicon sealant in the joint, which would remove the play and stop it rattling. Just an idea if cleaning and greasing the cable doesn't work.

    Seems to ba a problem on 82's. The mother in laws did the same thing and ended up replacing the cluster.
