the first thing i check when buying a second hand car is the engine for oil leaks and stuff.. the second, is always the tyres and brakes.. having avoided a few dodgy buys when i noticed the pads worn out and the discs paper thin..
i was once hit by an older woman driving a old corona.. her brakes were squeaking like mad and everytime she braked, the whole front end tilted over but she wouldn't stop, was pumping like mad.. anyway i drove faster to avoid her.. and next thing you know at the intersection to the freeway she bumps me... and she was going on the freeway too..![]()

It would seem that GT has been prescribing himself some pretty hardcaore shit for the last week or so! Perhaps the WA crew has fundamentally changed him after their visit?

baahahahahahahaha! Fcuk me drunk.........BOV, AKA Panpipe!

after much rooting around, i noticed that my rotor sits toward the back of the caliper spacer on my brakes, as u can see the gap toward the ouside is enough for my pads to fall out.
whats causing my rotor to be off center,
apparently its supposed to have the JZX81 brakes on it, could he have put on the jap calipers or rotors ONLY, making everything off set

u should really be using the pads that are meant to go with the callipers..
how exactly is the pads coming out? is it sliding through the gap? or just popping off the caliper itself ? have a bit of a hard time imagining this.. pics from the side?

Vios - the metal back of the pad has tabs that sit on the lugs to the left or right of the gaps identified by phil. Once the outside pad has worn down enough, the lugs no longer sit on the tab and that pad falls out.
phil: looks like you have the wrong disk - it should be centered between thoose two points. calipers mounts look like there are no spacers.
From memory the JZX81 discs are a larger size then the MX83 stock discs, and therefore the caliper bracket has longer mounting lugs than the MX83 caliper. However, this should not affect the placement of the disc in the relative Z-axis. The part of the bracket which you picture there does not necessarily need to be centered, as the caliper mounts off the rubber booted lugs at the right of the picture, making it offset to the right (back of disc) and therefore centered.

Take the disc off and measure the height. Compare it to the height as specified on the DBA catalogue. Should be 256 mm diameter, 68mm high and 20 or 22mm thick.
