Default Differences between RA23 and 70's corona

    Hey all,

I'm about to purchase a corona station wagon with a reco 18r to replace the dodgy 18r in my ra23. the corona is an auto.

Just wondering if people can fill me in on the differences between these two cars and what appears to be identical engines. Stuff like gearbox bolt patterns is the same?? etc.

yes i have searched but haven't found too much. Thanks heaps. Sam

    ps edited for dumbness

Ok you will have no problems doing the swap, dont forget that you will have to swap the flywheel an spigot bearing over.(that is the bearing that the gearbox input shaft sits in , it is easier to get a new one than try and remove the old one.
all bolt holes will line up and it should take no time at all
    Cheers

Thanks heaps for that guys. Apart from the engine and associated bits is there any other parts of the corona I may be able to use? e.g. I notice the aerial is same, not that that means much, but is the diff or any other part also the same as the celica? Steering? Cheers

Depending what model it is you may be able to swap the whole front strut/brake assemble over and give yourself an upgrade to 2 spot calipers in the process

In other words if its an RT132, you get the twin pot calipers. Just unbolt the entire strut and bolt into your RA23

It's more likely to be an RT104 if it's 70's, which means it has wishbone suspension so forget about swapping suspension/brake bits, leaf sprung at the rear so forget about using the diff, and although the engine is much the same as the RA23 engine it has a front sump as opposed to the RA23's mid-rear sump. If you already have an RA23 engine it shouldn't be a problem to swap the sump and pickup over though.
