    NB - worth mentioning for others reading that John's engine is running a high pressure full flow in ilne oil cooler system

    the stock 7mgte oil cooler is a bypass type low pressure cooler with sump return

    Grr cant find any info on this. Sounds intriguing.... I'd heard that 7M coolers were rather pointless things by design

    Edit - Should have refreshed the page . So, whats the downside for me doing this?

    cost, as always

    really need a minimum of -12 lines/fittings

    oh, add to that the fact that full flow means you may over-cool the oil if youre not giving the engine enough of a hartd time, all the time

    the 7m bypass cooler 'did' work, but its certainly not a massif amount of flow. my cooler never got hot, but warm enough to say there was some hot oil in there sometimes

    Well, i have -12 lines and fittings for filter relocation. If I can use a plate as described above the I'll have spares . Is there any trick to doing a full flow cooler setup?

    nope

    engine->filter->cooler->engine

    -12 the whole way along

    you can get remote filter/cooler kits that have a thermostat that bypasses the cooler until chosen temp is met.

    also, put a temp guage in (post cooler) so you know what the cooler is doing

    Thanks guys, I have plenty of -12 braided hose, just have to buy a few more aeroquip fittings. The car will either be going flat out or stopped, so I don't see over cooling as a huge problem....

    I'm going to take that sump picture above as a serving suggestion for Linden, he's winging and baffling mine this weekend

    Futureproofing more than anything. I get bored easily, a manual and coilovers could find their way into it in the future for a few track days

    Besides, a bit of extra oil capacity never hurt anyone
