Default 1g cutting out on RH corners

my 1ggte is mis firing only on RH corners for some reason. doesnt do it LH corners as far as i can tell.

no idea if its the fuel or spark causing the misfire.

only started doing it on sunday.

has any one experienced something similar with their engine and might be able to give some preliminary suggestions as what might be causing this.

    fuel system is as follows;
    VL HP pump,
    corona 5/16 fuel line
    homemade surge tank,
generic clacker pump as a lift pump
    stock injectors and ECU.

this setup has been the same for the last 12months and never had any problems so far.

the main outlet on the surgetank is slightly on the RH so during a RH corner, the fuel ~might~ accumulate on the LH side of the tank. but its never done it before even during track days. and the overflow is right up the top so the outlet should never not have fuel in it

how long approximately would it take for the fuel rail pressure to drop after the high pressure fuel pump inlet is starved of fuel???

is it only when its low on fuel? my car stutters when turning sharp corners (both ways but one worse than the other) and acceleration if i let it get below half a tank if i let it get down to 1/4 of a tank.

dont think so. i always drive on empty and it hasnt given me grief before.

even after the lift pump has been sucking air for a couple mins its fine.

Does the car make popping noises when the power comes back? If it does, it's possibly a spark issue, with unspent fuel going into the exaust and being combusted on the other side when the spark comes back. It certainly sounds like it's a fuel problem...

That said, and it could be this... While driving my Supra a few months ago, I noticed power would shut off going downhill. I couldn't work it out. Turns out the battery terminal was loose, and when I went down hill, the pressure and angle was just right to drop contact load causing the engine to stall (not a good thing).

ill definately have to keep my ear out for any fuel accumulation (and backfiring) next time it does it. should be able to establish the root of the problem this way

on a unrelated side note, does the acceleration and cornering intertia ever have any affect on the position of the flap in the air flow meter?

ive always wondered if the engine would run even richer when your accelerating full noise in 2nd gear....ie. inertia pulls open flap

i had the exact same problem with the ae86 i used to have!
i was running a blacktop 20v with microtech ecu,vl pump and surge tank just like you and
every time i went around a right-hand corner faster then 20k's
    it would cut out.

i remember it may of had something to do with the fuel lever sender?
i eventually changed to a vh, vk? stationwagon intank pump. problem fixed.

i dont think toyota's like vl pumps!

almost immediately.pump not pumping = no pressure.

does the rail return to the surge tank?
if lift pump sucking air is ok, then it's prolly not that.
could be uncovering (by splashing) of the outlet but...

as for AFM.. does mounting it vertically or horizontally make a difference? is the flap balanced? (it's like a 1/4 pie, so maybe there is some balancing effect?)

any bodgy wiring that could be affected by cornering?

got any crud in the tank or surge tank?

what direction are filters oriented? crud blocking on RH corner? (seems unlikely)

    etc

    interesting points you bring up......

it came to me today that it could infact be the wiring so i think i may have to rig up a contraption to moniter power to all the ECU pins that need it, then watch for any that loose power during cornering.

and yes, return line comes back to the surge tank. its a pretty big surge tank too
