    Default g series diff into ra23 q's

    Hey guys

Now that i have the g-series diff and lsd torson centre all i need to do is weld the mounts on and fit it into place? But how?

I have tried numerous searches on google and toymods, but since the 'g' in g series isn't 3 chars long it gets ignored in the search

I found a few guys in the members rides and have pm'd them about how they went about it too.

Any guys in adelaide know any GOOD and CHEAP diff shops please let me know... i did some ringing around and Action Suspension Enginnering sounds the most promising and cheapest as they have the jig and hilux 4x4 repairs are done all the time there.

Any comments would be greatly apprectiated.

    Thanks Craig

Ps. going behind either a 1ggte or turbo'd 2.2L 18rg (university sudent budget pending), expecting 200 to 220rwkw

Michael Costalos (MCostalos) here in SA put a G series Diff behind his RA28 before the car all got bingled up.
I haven't seen him around on here much after that though, and last i heard he went up to queensland.
I still have a phone number (I don't know if it is still current though) if you want to call it and see what he says, as if he got it done then that SHOULD mean there is a jig somewhere here in SA.

I also have a contact for a guy who is retired that i was reccommended to call who might be able to help, i got it from the Trans Man down at Lonsdale, that guy said he should be able to do it or at least point me in the right direction.

On top of that there is one place down south just off the southern expressway that specialise in ford 9" conversions that were able to help out but there was quite a cost involved as they knew they were the only place south of town that specialises in diff modifications. It is near the bottle shop at the end of brodie road if you know the area.

why didn't you grab the housing as well then which would have already been modified to fit? or was it before the bingle?

you basically have two or three types of RWD housings/axles.
    - early 1370mm
    - mid 1410mm
    - later model i cant remember width....

I know that someone here had some problems getting a torsen centre to fit in the early 1370mm housing (from RN27 hilux) because it was too large or something... so do some searching on these forums.
    ...... butt scratcher?!

yeah got a qoute for exactly $450 to swop the welds.

there is trouble putting live axle originated lsd centes into irs as there is less room in the housing, but irs ones will fit into the live axle housing (which is what im doing)

i have the 1410mm g series (xn4x) out of the 4x4 model ln106 which is 6 stud as opposed to the 5 stud out of the 2x4 models

    thanks

hrrrrr should of went for 5 stud 2wd version.

then its MS65 Crown front hubs for 5stud all round not drilling involved.

Now you gotta have the rear redrilled to suit the front.

Otherwise maybe find some 5stud axles if they'll fit?

Just i dont think engineers like the whole redrilling studs thing? i maybe wrong though???

any1 else been here? redrilling studs..but approved and certified?

make up a jig and swap the mounts over yourself if your competent with a welder and grinder.

use the 2 vertical studs on the banjo mounting face on the housing as the guide

Now you need FWD offset 6 stud wheels... where are you gonna find em?? You will at least need to get 5 stud axles. They will also help you get the supra brakes on.

    GL tho.
