Default MTEU boost retard - pic needed

    Hi,

I'm looking into getting an MTEU boost retard unit but I've never seen one, nor am I 100%sure where they are located.

If you can either give me a good description of where it is or a picture of it I would be most appreciative.

    Cheers,

    Excellent, thankyou very much

It will possibly be going into an 18RG, hopefully things won't be too complicated.

using a mechanical boost retarding mechanism to control your ignition timing is kinda my idea of "not cool".

It's just a bandaid solution to fixing your ignition timing, which would typically go with a stockish fuel control system that you'd find used by Americans and praised all over the intahnets....

I just dont like the idea - but by all means go for it
I'm just voicing my opinion, which i tend to do a lot...

Ok, thanks for the input, all taken on board.

I was always planning on buying one of these, but never sure whether I would use it or not. It all depends on what motor reg require me to use for fuel management.

I expect to be using a Delco system as all the stuff for them is easy to get, not too expensive (not counting megasquirt) and tuners are not hard to find.
That system would take care of the boost retard if it is all going to work out that way.

Oh man, i really hate those Delco systems.... nothing but pain and suffering trying to get them to work in the first place, and then more pain trying to tune it effectively.

I dont know what you need in SA, but i would avoid the Delco wherever possible. Just Megasquirt it

Should also add that if you have trouble finding an MTEU dizzy, I'm pretty sure the old TX3 turbos ran the same sort of thing.

Handy to know what's out there - sounds like a real bitsa!!

Steve, with the Delco, can't you just use an electronic dizzy and set up a timing table?? I'm not very au fait with the Delco so excuse the stupid question....

Cordia Turbos also had boost-retard on the dizzi (yet they had electronic timing retard for knock detection and an electronic boost sensor for the dash ... go figure).

i might have a pic somewhere - if i can find it later tonight i'll post a pic.
