    round the $200-220 or so,
I take its i 1ggte and whats it making?how many km's on it and what have you done to it?
the early 4ag and 2tg,3k etc will all suffer from it when the pushed to the higher levels.
Anything that runs a single coil and no spark boost will always run in to trouble once it has a good chunk of HP.
pretty obvious when you dont get many single pole coil engines from the factory that have more than 150kw at the wheels! there are exeptions, but it gives you an idea!

Spark plug gap is only dependent on the coils ability to jump it, while not taking another path of lesser resistance, or being able to jump any gap at all.
Spark plugs don't break from a coils low output voltage, a little different heat range, gap, or center electrode material. They break from detonation(this is not pre-ignition), or being way, way too high a heat range. They are like the canary in a mine telling you that the next thing breaking is going to be a piston.

I don't have a clue about what 'boost blowing out the spark' means.
Check the timing, idle & full advance, AFTER verifying the timing marks are accurate!!
