    Hi,

    So, what's happening with this?

In the above diagram, are you only measuring at Point-A or are you taking measurements within the tube also?

i think point A would be the least interesting

point B and the interface of B with C is where the money is

i plan on hooking up with jeffro once my engines running and having a tweak with a few objects of interest (like pulse plates) on the dyno...

as foir this experiment: i dont care! people joined my forum - now 83 in total!! yay!!

    Logic units concur.

Also would be good to see what comes out of the outlet to help determine the eficcicency of the system.

I have some nice largish 12VDC motors about the place. I'm not sure if they'd run as fast a as drill - I'll have to check that - but they'll be quiter and won't require you to use a drill. Furthermore you can build a more permanent test rig without having to connect the drill each time (assuming it's your normal drill and not a spare just for this purpose).

I'm scared if I join your forum I may say something frivolous and became the "Rona" of V8 dot com. Besides, do you want just numbers or actual contributors to your forum?

I was talking to a friend about it yesterday and he is very enthusiastic about it, we'll probably start prototyping next week.

Luckily, he's already got a rig to hook up a SC14 to his lathe, so we are part way there.

I've been offered a loan of some good quality (expensive) transducers, so I'm thinking about baselining with them, then trying to duplicate the results with cheaper hardware.

    Hi,

    Is a lathe fast enough?

I know you won't be running the SC14 at 20,000rpm and you'll be running it slower and (I assume) extrapolate the results for other rpms, but is the air-flow through the SC14 linear?

It will run it at 4k which should be good for around 200CFM. That doesn't sound like much, but when you're in the same room as it that's a lot of air.

Just did some rough maths* and that should be about 260ft/s through a 2" pipe so it should be in the right ball park for engines.

*may well be wrong, it's early
