    7mge = torquey
    2jzge = not torquey

    gearing = use gears to put the engine in its power band. the engine will_not_make good toruqe if you tryt and put a tow cam into it - its not what the 2jz does well

    I spoke to a cam grinder and he said I would be wasting my time and money purchasing different cams, he suggested that I dial up the cams in a 2jz non vvt and set the vvt inlet cam the same and secure the rotating vvt gadjet in that position. See how we go.

    or you could just disconnect the plug that go to the cam control that would do the same as the cam controller will not work ,hence will not advance

    If you're running a standard engine in your van, any reason you can't flog the Microleb to some Commodore kid, and use the factory ECU, which will then control the VVTi just fine.??

    So would you reccomend sticking with a 7MGE for towing or do a 2JZGE swap? On paper the 2JZ has more torque, but i havnt seen any dyno sheets to find where it is.

    low rpm, part throttle and throttle response 7m eats 2j simply because of its longer stroke

    2jz really does feel girly without revving it.

    the usual scenario is the same though - 7m will need a reuild by now, and tey blow HG just like evryone else. the 2jz is newer and requires less work from the get-go

    rods 2jz in the wagon seems to do a good job of towing things

    With my first Hiace I timed 0-100 with the 2rze and it took 19seconds, after installing the 7mge that time dropped to 11.6sec. I thought that was bloody awesome. I should have done more homework this time in fact I should have just asked you guys because the stuff you blokes don't isn't worth knowing. Don't we just love computers!

    The guy who has been dynoing my 2JZ Hiace is going to run up my 7MGE hice this weekend so he has a base to compare to when I take my 2JZ Hiace back for further dynoing after I sort out the cam dramas. I will attempt to post both sheets when I get them.

    By the way I towed (using my 7MGE Hiace) a Mazda RX2 from Brisbane to Bathurst and back (raced the Mazda around Mt Panorama in the historic catagory, Bathurst Motor Festival) last Easter and It was a breeze.

    Those dyno sheets would be cool. Im using my 7MGE powered Cressida as a towhack for taking the IPRA car to the track, so it would be reasonably similar i guess.

    Okay so the 2J may not be as Torquey, but rev the 7M out Either way, both engines would be good for towing.
