ok looks like ill have to get back to yas when i can get access to my spare head.
if anyone has already done this with a STOCK 2tg head itd be greatly appreciated. lol save me a trip to perth

sorry but i dun know what a burette is. do you guys think cramming plasticine in there with the valves in, making sure its perfectly flush with the head, then pulling it out and cramming it into a measuring cup would be ok?

im planning on just using a standard 2tg hg as yellow rolla said in another thread of mine. so whatever thickness that is.
am in the process of sorting out head studs atm (cheers merc blue) just gotta get hold of main studs now. anyone??

    cheers

A burette is used to measure liquid to a fine scale.... if you have ever done chemistry, you've probably seen one
    Some piccys of one
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burette
And this is the idea behind how to measure it using a burette...

I use a piece of acrylic with a hole drilled in it, and some coolant (costhe colour's nice) with a dash of detergent in it (to break the surface tension), measurements are taken with a syringe (I hope to get a burette some day). I seal the valves and acrylic with some vaseline.
You must remember to take the gasket cut out diameter and thickness into account.
Wiseco publish the cc's that the valve reliefs are (2 odd cc's IIRC).
They (Serco - the Aus dist of Wiseco) will also happily work out the CR for you over the phone.
    YelloRolla's KE20 1/4mi = 11.32 @ 119mph @ 22psi on slicks
    12.44 @ 113 mph on 165 wide street tyres
210rwkw - not bad for a smelly 3TGTE running pump fuel.

    Hey all,

I just got this info on forgies from the Paradise racing website. I read in this thread that boring the 3tgte to 89mm is not safe. How come they are selling 89mm arias for 3tgte if it really isn't that safe. Confused....

depends on where you call "safe"
89mm leave very little room to the water jackets so little infact that some people have water seep throught the block cause the steel is slightly porous. i wouldnt be bosting something on 89mm on a very mild engine build 89mm wouldnt be bad, but on anything with balls its not a good idea

If building a full on drag motor, then 89mm will be fine. The water jackets are then filled with grout, or resin and water seepage and "ballooning" of the bores is no longer an issue. You can then go on to run methanol and 50+ psi boost with a shot of giggle gas and run the outrageous numbers that the Puerto Rican cars have run.
In the event of a full on circuit car, have the block sleeved OR sonically test a bunch of blocks to find one where the core hasn't shifted.

i'm attempting to rebuild a 3tgte that has been sitting at my dads place for a while and have also found this thread useful. Check out the old forum that was pretty helpful for what i'm doing.

I not sure of how far i will get with the rebuild since i'm an environmental science student will nill mechanical knowledge
