Hi guys, im after a 1992 VP commodore wiring diagram, as im putting this motor into my hilux, and would like to know a few things about the wires and wherwe they are going to/ from. I have looked for about an hour on the net and cant find much thats helpful if anything at all...
Namely the thermofan sensor, as it is a dual wire type, and i believe if i disconnect it, itll do screwy things to the computer. How do i wire up this 2 wire normally open i presume switch with two relays such as the witzl has done with his single wire diagram?
Also, does anyone know if the commodore gauge sensor will work with the hilux dash?
finally, the auto has an electronic output for the speedo - does anyone know of a cable driven unit i might be able to use? does another GMH bix have a cable sensor which bolts into the turbo700? I have heard unconfirmed sayings that the turbo400 one will work - can anyone confirm?
thanks
Blake

comm sensor wont work accurately with hilux dash
thermo fan wire from vp ecu has neg trigger for relay
theres no sensor for thermofan its the coolant temp sensor for ecu
ring an instrument shop and a speedo cable shop u will need a cable driven sensor and a custom cable made up
what model hilux? 89-96 hiluxs had both cable and electronic speedos.
pm me with your email I can scan you a basic wiring diagram for the v6 motor and ecu
dont suppose u would have one for a 1ggte (2L 6cl twin turbo came out out ga70 supra and ma60 soarers! imports!) that u could scan for me to?Originally Posted by airfireman1
be very very very grateful if you did! or if anyone else has??

I dont have that one sorry I have ones for quite a few cars and toyota motors but they are basically the average cars found on aussie roads

www.marks4wd.com or (castlemain) www.rodshop.com.au would be your best bet.
You will need the Commodore V6 engine complete with, the main engine wiring harness, the ECM computer and mem-cal for manual engines, PCM computer and mem-cal for auto engines. Other accessories such as, the map sensor, purge canister (carbon canister), air cleaner and ducting if required, air conditioning compressor if required (if not they make a great air compressor), power steering pump if required, engine pipes with O2 sensor and catalytic converter.
If you are fitting the V6 engine to a 5-speed you will require the flywheel and starter motor (reduction type) you can pick up packages for the v6 conversion with all the required parts
and illustrations from the above retailers.
ive looked into the v6 for my hilux but it is not a cheep conversion to do and it is very fiddley
good luck
i got pretty much the whole mechanicals of a car for $250, aso i think i did very well. all electrics and all. am going to use the turbo700.Originally Posted by Spanner

Try and find a place for the Toyota dash temp sensor, leave the Commodore ECU one of course.
From the sounds of it you can use the ECU to trigger a relay for the thermofan (what is wrong with that setup ....)

I've heard that Castlemaine Rod Shop do a t-piece fitting for the speedo drive off the gearbox - one side feeds ecu needs and other matches the original setup from your vehicle, so you can use your original cable and your speedo still reads right. From what I've heard, you get a basic kit, then when it's running you tell them how much the speedo is out and they send you the right gearing to adjust it perfectly.
Info is a couple of years old, so check them out to clarify this...

that means i have to rewire everything tho doesnt it....or can i just replace the trigger wire off the toyota sensor with the one from the commodore ecu and see how that goes? jesus i hope i can get a wiring diagram!Originally Posted by wilbo666
