Well, i didnt end up buying anything for them. Didnt bother taking it off actually, just got compressed air in the spark plugs holes and a few rags and it was clean. Couldnt be bothered running around on a saturday trying to find the tool.

Looks like it's about the same size as the allen key thing required to undo 3SG head bolts.

this is what I did to get the sump bolt out from a merc V8...
    worked a treat.

    quite inexpensive to make..
just use existing socket set on bolt end..
    done =)

are they very tight? I think i did mine with multigrips grabbing the whole thing on the outside with them, didnt damage them at all either.

They shouldnt be too tight...so try that....

Peewee did them up with a 14mm allen key - so they would be fairly tight.
but he was off to ToyFest.. so I had to get my own tool

Wasn't too hard tho.. down to a hardware store.. found a 14mm hex nut that fits into a 10mm socket...
    cost me $2 ..

    All sorted..
plugs all clean - oil cleaned out - cam covers sealed up and tightened down..
hopefully I don't have to do it too often now..
but if I do - I have my trusty $2 hex tool thingo!

    cheers for all the comments!

dude - allen keys 'add' together

dont have one big enough? put 2 in. eg 10mm use a 6 and 4 give or take. theres always a combination that will fit and work. might not torque really hard, but 'enough', and certainly enough for those machining plugs

I've seen allen keys the size of a.................ummmm......baby's forearm. Then again, you get things like that when you start dealing with industrial presses and hydraulic motors that run at 100amps

nah, just the local hardware store up the road..
but Bunnings I would assume would have something similar?..

I can always buy another one and send it across if you have trouble finding something to fit
