Default Redtop Plenum Cut & Shut: Will it work?

I've taken an alternate approach to swapping the back for the front I've taken the top off, spun it 180 and stitched it back on. The idea being to keep the sensor etc. in the same position, relative to the throttle body, albeit facing away from the head. I've heard of problems, which may or may not have been associated with the traditional conversion, with engines not quite performing up to expectations. Will it work though? Should I attempt to fill in the "groove" left inside the plenum?

My fallback position is to take a genuine RWD TVIS plenum, remove the top and glue it to the smallport tubes. I'm sure it's been done before but I'll be stuffed if I can find any references to it.

    Thoughts?

Yes! I have every intention of grinding the weld back and polishing it up, someday, once I know it works.

    Cheers.

cut off plenum about inch down the runners, turn 180deg and reattach.
keeps everything (sensors, cold start, PCV connection etc) in place you just have to get a couple of longer vac lines. even the throttle cable is fine.

i ran with a intake as describe above, not a problem at all for 3 years with stock ECU and programmable ECU. worst thing that happened is the stupid ICV died and i blanked it off with a plate.
    N/A for life...

I've had this way done and in full operation for over 3 years now....

I especially like that all the ports are on the outside of the manifold, instead on inside

Oldeskewl, thanks, nice to know that others have been there, successfully, before me.

    Cheers.
