Red face Hey man I need rubbers

I am in the process of reserecting a RA28 and will no doubt be in the market for a complete set of trim rubbers. Has anyone had good experiences lately with procuring rubbers?

Steve and I are going to be getting a full set each in the near future. He got his last set from Toysport. I'll let you know, as we might be able to group buy to save on postage atleast.

Do you know if you can pretty much get everything?
I'd hate to stuff up the one seal I can't get.
I'm gunna let my son strip it down over the September holidays.
Would be interested in getting photos sent to my private email adess of different couloured TA/RAs. I am leaning towards keeping it the original lite blue. De-chromed of course.

Gotta go the Bronc are thrshing Newcastle

If your desperate you should be able to pick up a box from your local servo or public toilet
If you can hold out for a while you might want to check rarespares.
    http://www.rarespares.net.au/mainind.htm
Part number for the full kit is CEL2 and it apparently includes:
    Windscreen seal
    Door belts
    Door seals
    Baily channel rubber
    Rear window seal
    Boot / hatch seal

    dechromed???

does anyone know if these aftermarket rubbers allow the chrome to be fitted. Or do you need genuine toyota ones for that.

Its every seal you need. Just search through members rides for RA/TA's. Personally i recon the RA28's look better in darker colours. Id keep all the chrome trim on as well.

I know for a fact that the Rare Spares chain specialise in the replacement rubbers/seals for the early Celica's, as I've had a look through their database.

It'd help if rare spares rubbers fitted as with spectrum. There front & rear window seals seem ok. The rest should be placed in the bin.

My recommendation is to go genuine where you can.

    hi,
i recommed you go original and not after market rubbers. I have purchased the rare spares rubber kit for ta22 and it is incomplete. even though the kit supplies a rubber softener spray, the problems i have found are:-

    - door rubbers (ones that go around the doors) need to be measured, cut to length and holes for the plastic clip need to be drilled to the rubber. Also there wasnt enough plastic clips for the holes. The window seal part of the rubber is not included it is just one continuous strip.

    - boot rubber makes you boot stick up and extra inch higher or so.

    - glass divider seal you need to cut to length and missing hole to screw onto chrome rubber holder.

    - door weather strips that go in the inside and outside of the door on both sides of the window glass, the holes do not line up with the door edge. they are L / Z shaped strips.

    - the window strip that runs at the top of the windows you need to cut to length and are missing the flat rubber near the front door hinges. i found the plastic clips are too big for the stock holes so i drilled them out bigger.

    - the glue used for fitting weather strips are weak, i used "loctite auto trim cement".

the rubber kit does not include engine bay rubbers like lower radiator strip, bonnet stops and so on.

    i have learned my lesson.

I think just about any boot rubber will do that to you. I recently got some replacement pinchweld for my 162 (about 4m of it), and it's the same stuff that a few people would use as heatshield trims for the air pipe to go through. I installed mine in the boot about 2 months ago now and I'm still having to slam it shut most times, but it also helps to have a door or a window open too to relieve the pressure. It's getting better I think, just takes a bit of wearing-in. Pinchweld stuff was only $10/m.

mate the best place in the world for rubbers is toyhead... he is in the US, prices are fair i believe and the freight wasnt bad either... i got every seal from him and they are all toyota genuine

the total kit cost me about $1300 delivered but is missing the engine bay seals (3 of them) and the quarter seal (between the door and the rar quarter, there is a seal with 3 screws)

    cheers

One question i have that is burning a big hole in my quest for window seals....

.... who supplies a PROPER front window seal for an RA28, because they are most certainly different to an RA23.
The RA28 seal has the extra lip on the inside top edge of the window which holds in the roof lining. An RA23 does not have this afaik.

Anybody got any idea how much genuine RA28 front and rear window seals are worth?
    ...... butt scratcher?!
