    1jz racing.Yeah the info about reusing the bolts is solid but so is the advice not to...like the old saying,you make your choice and you spend your money.But only once hopefully.
    I have torqued the head down so the experiment is locked in.I will be 100% honest re the results.[using s\hand rings]
    OK.News for me is that the 2jzge oil pump does not have the ability to mount a crank angle sensor and that myoptions are to either fit a 1jzgte oil pump or a 2jzgte oil pump.Reason being that these pump housings are made to take a crank angle sensor where the GE isnt.
    Also that a 2jzgte pump will mate better with the 1j head cam cover[than a 1j pump].This info comes from a very reliable source but I try to confirm anything and everything before changing parts so please come forward if you have first hand knowledge either way.
    I will not post any results until I am sure.Costs are mounting up.

    since the last post i have on various occasions chased nesting wasps away from this engine.I have also covered it against the elements but alas no progress has been made.

    The injectors just arrived.Sard 650's at $100 ea from greenline.good value yes.550's also.same price.was a special so cant say if still there...............[stock impedence,drop in and tune]

    Also a HKS 2j cambelt "finetune" and the emanage support tool and cable plus all the guff in english plus a dozen FAQ lists on emanage blue from net sources [all free and easy plus counterfeit looms etc etc]

    So this project is on the way again slowly.building 2or3cars plus boationg,dirt biking,you know so its all good.just think of that rusty shell in the corner of the yard as future entertainment........
    edit-oh yeah,so add another grand to that beer budget.

    Hi Pete

    i put a stock toyota cam belt on mine, was told unless i want 10000rpm a non factory item isnt needed. anywho, we all need a cam belt.

    should be ready to fire mine up weekend after next.

    5 mths since the last post on this thread,slow progress.OH Well....the 240 body is on a rotisserie getting cleaned up.plans include a cage.
    engine hasnt been touched but have purchased USDM 2J cams from Chris Davey which will suit this motor perfectly [350 dollars] also fits the beer budget idea.......will cost a little more as will most likely pay to have new cams fitted/shimmed.

    have a look at Chris's sale post on the cams which include a link to some good info on cam specs etc on another site.

    Ok.there has been a little interest here and there as people are still building these engines and info ia always welcome.

    My direction has changed with the budget as i have accepted that time delays are inevitable due mainly to budget but i dont want to do it twice so have started again.

    I had to remove the head to fit cams [mentioned in last post] cost $120 to have cams shimmed and fitted.Head off meant head bolts getting torqued again so decision to purchase new head bolts.cost unknown at present.Can reuse head gasket as engine wasnt run.

    Since the head is new etc im freshening the bore [JHH heads is]
    and asking for a measure re rings and bearings.The crank bearings may bo OK but rings will be new.

    OK so it probably doesnt qualify as a budget build anymore.I imagine i have still minimised costs by doing all the labour myself.Who cares..............I hope there is some useful info for anyone doing the 1.5j.Good luck to you all.

    ps.cost to date $2870 without turbo,manifold etc etc

    would expect-$1000 gearbox
    $1000 clutch
    $1000 management and tune,wiring.
    $1800 turbo
    $600 manifold
    $400 wastegate

    many other things self built including manifold but still gotta buy all the components.Dont compare this cost to that of a 2j front cut or something as you wont get a late model turbo or new injectors\fresh engine with a front cut.this set up will probably equal any street 500rwhp power maker and they dont come cheap.

    a little info to share-
    if using an NA block.i mentioned previously that the turbo oil pump must be used[it houses crank angle sensor] but didnt realise that the bottom cam belt pulley must also be from a turbo 1 or 2j as the trigger for crank angle sensor is not on the NA pulley.

    2j rings.standard 86mm 2j rings are apparently same part number on the hastings rings and bearings site as RB30 nissan rings.this allows you to shop RB30 rings for a price advantage.[unconfirmed]

    currently aussie dollar is 90c US so ebay is your friend for american stuff right now.
