Default 18RGEU Wiring Woes (56K BWARE) *It was alive NOW DEAD*

Please excuse what maybe really simple and noobish type questions, the learning curve for this has been massive!

So I decided one weeked that id throw the 18RGEU I had lying around into the RA23. Took a little longer than the weeked...

One wiring loom later and im stumped on quite a few things, hopefully theres some wiring wizards around that will be able to tell me what goes where!

Ive got the wiring diagrams, and ecu pinouts, injectors, TPS, AFM are all plugged in.

I get mega confused when it comes to what goes to the battery, the coil ignitor, relays and where I get power for the fuel pumps.

    Heres what im stuck on:

One of two wires from AFM, not the main 4 that come straight from the ecu.

Splits into two, one goes near this relay

    The other leads here... nowhere?!

The second wire from the AFM, goes into this.

    --------------

    Wire A starts here...

    Wire A ends here...

    Wire B starts here...

    Wire B ends here...

Wire C starts here, goes into a connector, continues to...

    Wire C then ends here

    ---------------

Traced to 1G (-ve), negative coil?

From STA pinout of ECU into relay

Another from STA line... ends to nothing

two wires that came from the injector/tps area, not sure if there supposed to lead somewhere?

A thingo... connects to wires from injector / TPS area

    Earth or power? From relay

From E2 on ECU, splits into two?

Four wires to the AFM: VB, VC, VS, THA. Seem to have a spare black wire the comes from the AFM?

OX from ECU, as well as earth from ecu? Goes into one "sheilded wire"?

Oxygen Sensor is gray wire, sheilded from ECU is the white/red with weird connector.

    ------------------------

    Wire D comes from relay

Wire D goes to this connector

The second wire of that connector goes here

    -------------------------

Wire E starts from relay and ends in the connector lower left

Three wires on the left are the original alternator wires, the three on the right are the new plug wires... which match which?

Lift Pump, earth is black, power is the other one right? Where do i get power from?

Fuel Pump, eath right and power left?

The conector for an electric fan, is there a way to wire this into the loom?

Three wires coming out of the injector / tps area of wires, not sure if there supposed to go somewhere

Red wire is a / on pinouts... is it needed for anything?

    ----------------------
The two relays in the pictures are like this:

+B refers to the +B on the ECU, A, D and E refer to the wires above.
    The other relay

The spade outs are taken from looking at the label on the relay and then turning them away from me to see the pins on the bottom.
    --------------------------------
All help greatly appreciated. I can grap more photos and trace more wires if required and ill keep plugging away at it!

    Cheers,

    Bryce

couple of points that may help -
Ignore your wiring diagram, open ECU and confirm the pinouts
One wire from the AFM triggers the fuel pump, at idle it actually switches the pump off
"OX from ECU, as well as earth from ecu? Goes into one "sheilded wire"?" goes to the oxygen sensor which is sheilded, not really necessary

Will see what else I can confirm off my car for you this weekend.

    Yeah thats one messy loom...
The "thingo... connects to wires from injector / TPS area" is an injector resistor pack.

Witzl recently remade the loom for his 18RGEU very recently... I'm sure he would have kept notes on what colour wire goes to what.
I'm sure he'll see this thread eventually... else send him a PM.

Alrite, ill open up the ECU tomorrow and confirm all the ecu pinouts.

So i dont need the earth for the Oxygen Sensor? Is that what your saying?

So thats the "Ballast Resistor?" So this should connect to a 20A Fuse and then to the battery or is the fuse incorperated? Should I cut off the old connector and wire it to the battery?

PM sent to Witzl so help him find my thread

    Cheers guys

Nah, I meant you don't need the oxy sensor really (although better to connect it if you have it though). The earth is connected to the sheilding around the wire to the oxy sensor, looks like a braided cover.

Also, one of the STA wires would go to the fuel pump relay (proper to Toyota one) normally to switch the fuel pump on while cranking.

looking at those pics id throw the whole loom out

how u expect shit like that to run and be reliable

more and more i see this stuff makes me understand why so many cars break down

a messy loom makes yr job much harder

the more I look at this loom... the more i want to burn it.

Start the whole bloody thing again, or wait until i make a new loom for my megasquirt and buy my "prug-n-pray" loom that is 100% functional.

    How long would that be?

Id start the whole loom again but ive got no idea what the:

    Cold Start Injector,
Cold Start Injector Control in Head,
    Starter Aux Relay,
    Kill Switch,
    Main Relay,
    Ingnition Switch,
    Fuel Control Relay,
    Main Relay

look like... any one that wants to take photos of there loom, and what everything looks like, ill start again. But at the moment ive got no idea what to do...
