3.909 = Manual MA61 LSD centre
4.1 = Auto MA61 LSD centre
Hi, as you may know I am restoring the 2000 GT Corona and I have been offered an LSD.
Details are
f series lsd clutch assembly which has ring gear attached (41 teeth)
also an input gear if wanted, but its 11 teeth,
so ratio = 3.7
Will this centre fit into the f series open diff that i have and can I use my 43 tooth crown wheel?
.
I have an 11/43 3909
I desire a 4.111 in reality 3909 is better than 3.7, but if this is the clutch that fits the diff so its a start.
What do I offer for it to the guy?
How do I make sure it fits?
Are there any spares in Australia in case I need new bearings etc?

If in doubt power out
You need to keep the ring wheel and pinion as a matching pair. So yes you could use your 43 ring gear and retain the original pinion also.
Just don't mix n match and try putting the new ring gear with your old pinion.
CBC at Artarmon are awesome for bearings. Speak to Kev he knows all.
LSD F series centre? second hand.. $350 or so?

Buy the clutch centre from the guy.
Removed the crown wheel and open spider carrier from my second hand F series mark 2 (3.909) diff.
Unbolt the 43 tooth crown wheel from it.
Remove the ring gear from the purchased LSD centre (picture).
Bolt the Mark 2 43 tooth ring gear crownwheel onto the clutch LSD and remount it onto my Mark 2 Diff.
Re adjust the difference between the old open spider carrier and the new clutch lsd spider carrier using the side adjustment.
Question. Use new new tapered rollers on the second hand unit above or use the tapered bearings and cups that come with it?

What spline size in the axles?

Yes that will all work. Just be careful setting pinion depth/gear mesh it is critical (assuming you are taking the pinion out to put new bearings & seals in).
Backlash is easy.
I recommend to get new bearings. If the diff is in pieces it's the perfect time to put new bearings through it. They are cheap too.
Yes. 7654321
MA61 LSD, unknown condition (hard to tell unless its in a diff housing).

I take it most of the clutch TOYOTA DIFF centres have not changed much in design.
In the old days my 1600S had a four spider diff. Now 2 big ones seem to do the trick.
And I know I am being pedantic trying to restore the old girl to its original mechanical state, but I guess if the Japanese put that sort of stuff in it in the first place and I did not look after it so well, the least I can do is restore to near original/authentic.![]()
Thanks to everyone for taking the time out to address my questions.
